QA Engineer with test automation (m/f/x)

Role Description
We are seeking a QA Engineer who combines strong manual testing skills with hands-on test automation experience. You will ensure the quality of customer-facing software where standards are high and tolerance for defects is very low — validating features end-to-end across web applications, REST APIs, and data layers, and building automation that gives the team fast, reliable feedback in CI/CD.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute functional, regression, integration, acceptance, and exploratory tests
- Test web applications across different browsers and screen sizes
- Validate complex workflows, edge cases, and database state using SQL
- Report and track bugs in Jira, and verify fixes
- Build a test automation framework from scratch
- Develop end-to-end tests with Playwright using TypeScript and/or Python
- Create API tests for REST/FastAPI endpoints
- Use mocks, fixtures, and reliable test data to keep automation stable
- Investigate failures using logs, network requests, browser DevTools, and test results
- Define regression scope and help determine whether releases are ready
- Integrate automated tests into GitHub Actions/CI pipelines
Requirements
- 3+ years of QA experience on customer-facing software
- Strong experience with both manual testing and automation
- Hands-on Playwright experience
- Experience designing an automation framework from scratch
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Good bug reporting and defect-management experience
NICE TO HAVE
- FastAPI/Python knowledge
- PostgreSQL and SQL experience
- Experience with B2B/data-heavy applications
- REST API testing using Postman or Playwright
- Basic performance/load testing
- Accessibility testing knowledge
Conditions and Benefits
- A minimum gross salary of 38.000 EUR per year (overpayment possible)
- Flexible working time
- Permanent full-time contract (38,5 h / week)
